Custom Audio Video Expands to New Markets
It’s not just for audiophiles anymore. Custom audio/video equipment has important applications in industry, and not just in the business of manufacturing home entertainment systems. Many other industries can take advantage of the technology that’s been developed by these manufacturers, and apply it in industrial settings to achieve a safer workplace, more productive operations, and okay, sometimes a more pleasant environment as well.
The heavy equipment industry has already adopted the idea of adding comfort to its products, by installing audio systems into the vehicles in which workers spend long periods of time. Employers who provide this extra support to their employees benefit from happier, more productive workers. Now it’s possible to add to their safety with satellite radio ready technology that supports paging systems, text enabled news services and emergency warning signals.
A video monitor mounted in the cab of a forklift along with strategically mounted cameras on the chassis creates an information system for the driver, enabling him to see around tall loads, or target the right fork position when picking awkward pallets. The addition of a bar-code scanner allows for faster and more accurate stock picking, eliminating costly and time-consuming mistakes.
